Awesome and awkward - the iPod version

I've seen a few blog links where the topic is "awesome and awkward"...as in "What happened to you this week that was awesome and what happened that was awkward?

When I drive to the cabin every week I like to sing as if I'm on stage performing at the Grammy's (the Things wear headphones and watch movies and do not talk to me for 2 hours so I really let go...regardless of the fact that I most definitely do not have a Grammy-ready voice) so the other day it got me thinking that it would be fun (and probably disclose way too much embarrassing information about my listening habits...but whatever) to do the "awesome and awkward" thing with songs from my iPod playlist. And the fact that what I think is Awesome you might think is Awkward is almost a certainty.

Don't judge.

Awesome:
Two out of three ain't bad - Meatloaf
Superior song to sing along to - LOUDLY and with feeling - ("...and she kept on tellin' me, she kept on tellin' me, SHE - KEPT - ON - TELLIN' - ME, I waant you...."). Plus, it takes me back to my childhood (that's right. I'm that old).

Awkward:
Rhythm of the Night - DeBarge
The fact that I actually have several other songs by DeBarge on my iPod is even more awkward.  As is the fact that when "Time will Reveal" comes on I feel like I'm going to cry for some strange reason. No lie.

Awesome:
Sexyback - Justin Timberlake
I swear, when this song comes on I become the best and coolest club dancer in the world and if Husband is near forget it. We invent all sorts of groovy moves.
I'm not sure our children (who have seen us dance to this song) would agree.

Awkward:
Top of the World - The Carpenters
I cannot tell you how much I love singing along to this song (shut up).

Awesome:
Need You Tonight - INXS
When Michael Hutchins (RIP) whispers "come over here" at the beginning, I get serious goose bumps and have every time I've listened to that song for the past 20 years. That's a lot of goose bumps.

Awkward:
Into the Night - Benny Mardones
One of those I heard on some t.v. show and was like, "Oh, I remember that song" (again...keep your nasty age comments to yourself).  What made me actually take the time to go to iTunes and fork over .99 for it a few years ago is beyond me.  And I swear I wouldn't have ever known who Benny Mardones was before today.  You think I'm lying, don't you??  But now I'm thinking that one's gotta go...

Awesome:
Bohemian Rhapsody (Live) - P!nk (Funhouse Tour)
First of all, I love P!nk (I'm seriously thinking of changing the spelling of my name to M!chelle, btw, because how awesome is an exclamation point right in your own name?). I think her voice is one of the best around. And this version of Bohemian Rhapsody is brilliant.  Obviously, obviously, it's not the original, but it's damn close. And isn't it nice to hear a little variation from Queen every once in awhile?

Awkward:
Jungle Love - The Time
Never mind....this one is AWESOME.

Oh, and this list could really go on and on and on...
I might have to make this a recurring post.

So what about you?
C'mon - spill it.  I dare you.
I just told all of you that I have a Benny Mardones song on my ipod and sing along to DeBarge, so yours can't be that bad.
