Friday Favorites - The one where I tell you some REALLY big news!

So yesterday was Valentines Day. Big deal. I can take it or leave it.  It's just not a holiday that gets me excited, and I've had the same Valentine now for over 24 years. I just don't "get" the whole mandated day for romance thing. I mean, to us, every day is Valentines Day. 

Now, go wipe that vomit off your chin because I've got big news.

Like big, big news.

News that I'm as excited about as Lucille Bluth.

And it's today's solitary Friday Favorite.

I'm going to be a published author.

Cue the confetti canon! Sound the trumpet fanfare!

It's true, you guys.

I wrote an essay that is going to be published in an anthology of humorous essays by some awesome bloggers, many of whom I've been a big fan of for awhile, and a group of which I am now honored to be a part of.

Crazy, right?

Here's the deets:

In early January I was asked (by a pretty famous, very hilarious and well-read blogger) to submit an essay on the humor of being a mom/woman with the only real qualification being that it had to be HYSTERICAL and something not previously published on my blog.

So I did.

I treated it like a freakin' college term paper and wrote and edited that sucker for like two straight days. While drinking tequlia.

Kidding. I'm kidding. It was vodka.

Fast forward to last weekend.

Inbox from famous/well-read/hyper popular/extremely hilarious blogger saying I'm IN.

Boom.

Just like that, I'm an author. 

An author. Legit. 

My words are going to be part of a book that will be sold on Amazon.com and in bookstores and that you can even upload on your Kindle or Nook or iPad; a book that will have my name on the back cover. I'll even have my very own Amazon author page. 

Whatever. 

You guys, this is blowing my mind.

And the very best part - even better that all that bragging I just did above - is that I'm sharing it with over 30 awesome and hilarious and kick-ass ladies who over the past week I've had the best time chatting with through ridiculous and hilarious comment strands on facebook.  (Seriously, I want to go on vacation with all of them.)

The anthology will be published in a couple of months, and is the real deal (I've even seen the mock-up of the cover!). You'll be able to buy it through my blog page (of course), so stay tuned.

I can't tell you what my essay is about (yet), and won't be able to publish it on my blog (obviously), but I want you to get a feel for how funny this book will be. So for the next month or so I'm going to be posting links to some of the other contributor's "best of" posts.  Read...follow...laugh.  And then in April, buy our book.

Buy. Our. Book.

Those words are pretty damn amazing to say.
