But I'm kind of legit today.

So to be a Blog Star, all I have to do apparently is tell you about me...my blog...my brightest dreams and biggest failures. Okay, that last part is a lie, but I am supposed to give you an idea of what my blog is all about. Since most of you reading this (which at last count is like 50 on any given day...which depresses me until I remember the days when it was like 10) already know what this blog is about, I will be brief with the introduction.
Me:
My Family:
The spoiled cats:
*you can read more about all of the above right HERE.*
For the sake of full disclosure I should let you know up front that while I am probably not quite old enough to be the mother to most of you reading this, I was probably busy curling my bangs, swooning over Andrew McCarthy and listening to Duran Duran when you were born (but I like to think of myself as your cool older sister, just so ya know).
But even though you may have been playing with play-doh when I was pumping a keg at a fraternity party, and you may have a dog that is terrified of thunder and keeps you up at night instead of an 11 year old daughter who does the same, our lives (and our blogs) are more alike than you'd think.
For example:
YOU: You may go out to a fun, new, hip urban club on a Friday night with your cool/scruffy fiancée/husband and have a few drinks wearing funky heels and a messy bun and a colorful scarf thrown around your neck in a perfectly sloppy but polished way and post cool instagram photos on facebook/twitter/blog.
ME: Husband (also scruffy but in an "I don't care to take the time to make sure my whiskers aren't so long that food won't get caught in them" kind of way) and I also will be having drinks on Friday - usually in our basement, on the couch, in sweats or pjs, face washed, (totally different kind of) messy bun, watching t.v. We sometimes often do make Appletinis, though, because we like to feel fancy.
Difference - you won't ever - ever - see photos of that (although it would be hilarious and now I might be reconsidering...)
~*~*~*~*~
YOU: You have a silly and spirited and lovable dog who aggravates you/amazes you/exhausts you/thrills you with her antics every day.
ME: I have a 16 year-old and an 11 year-old daughter who do the same.
Difference - mine don't (usually) have accidents on the floor anymore.
~*~*~*~*~
YOU: You go to work every day to a job that aggravates you/amazes you/exhausts you and then come home and try to find time for yourself...and your blog.
ME: Being a personal assistant to Husband, the 16 and 11 year old as well as a maid, cook, vet, and chauffeur is not a lot different in the aggravate/amaze/exhausts you department. Except now I know they'll still grow if they only eat peanut butter and cheese 5 days in a row so I clock-out early more and more often to work on the blog.
Difference - I get to sleep with the boss (or is it the other way around??)
~*~*~*~*~
See? Despite our age difference we can still hang out together!
And my blog?
My blog is called You're my favorite today because I have a lot of favorites, which if you stick around long enough you're sure to read all about...
like the things I adored from my GenX childhood...
why The Bachelor is the greatest show ever...
my birthday!...and what I'd LOVE to be able to go back and tell my teenage self...
celebrity disasters (big favorite)...
the happiest place I know (and where I am lucky enough to spend most of my summers)...
and probably the most favorite of all - when Scott Baio re-tweeted me (shut up).
Having said all that...my blog is also the place where I can unload some of the decidedly non-favorite things in my daily life too:
like one reason I cannot stand to go on vacation with my family...
why I hate to fly...
when spray paint cans explode in your car...
and a fun part of living in Minnesota - tornado warnings.

Come check out my Blog Star! :)
I seriously was laughing out loud at this....it sounds all too familiar to my house! I always joke that I'm an "old married lady" trapped in a 28 year olds body. And there's no way that those are your kids! You don't look old enough to be their mom. I will have to keep following you on GFC :)
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Blog Star... you are so freaking awesome... which awesomeness is what I require for my followers... nah, just kidding. But it does automatically bump you as internet bloggy bestie (IBB).
