Friday Faves - and why a suspected terrorist is on the list.

The first one is Frijoles.

Instead of the usual opener of "I can't believe it's already Friday...blah blah blah...summer's almost over...sob sob sob...." let's jump right in, shall we?

Here's what's makin' the favorites list and what I'm giving a big High Five to in my little world this week:

1.  Homeland (Showtime) -
You can relax, terrorists aren't really my favorite.
Real ones, anyway.
But Sergeant Nicholas Brody?

Definite favorite.

Husband and I have been wanting to watch Homeland since it started last fall but never made the time for this smart and thought-provoking and very current show in our jam-packed weekly TV schedule that includes so many other smart and thought-provoking shows.

But now we're halfway through the season (no spoilers, please) and we are obsessed. OBsessed.

It is one of the most brilliantly written shows I've watched in a long time (and judging by the 4 photos above clearly that's not a difficult feat....but still).

And...and...when it returns this fall it will air right after another big favorite of ours - and another brilliantly written Showtime show - Dexter.

Sunday nights this fall just became a fixture in the weekly favorites lists.

2.  Pretzel-Rolo bites -
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Pinterest to me is like walking into Michaels and seeing all the amazing and adorable crafts and papers and ribbons and beads and telling myself that I will for sure make it all....and never do.  But cheaper.

But a few days ago I did consult the old Pinterest boards when looking for a quick and easy treat to make, and these little nuggets became a favorite as quickly as they disappeared.

Ridiculously easy - but I took photos because I'm working on being a better cooking blogger.
Bahahahahahaha.

Step 1:
Assemble your ingredients.
In this case, there are 2.
Perfect.

Step 2:
Make your kid unwrap all the Rolos and admonish her from eating them while you sneak 4...or 6.
Place one Rolo on each pretzel snap.

Step 3:
Bake at 250° for 5 min. (you don't want the Rolos to melt, just soften).
Remove and quickly quickly press another snap on top.

Step 4:
Refrigerate for about an hour or so.
Voila.
You've just been favorited.

3. Culver's -
If you live in the Midwest you probably don't need me to go any further with this explanation.
'nuff said, right?
But for those of you unlucky enough to have never experienced a Culver's Butterburger, here's what you're missing -

Best.burgers.ever.

And as if that's not enough, they also have crinkly fries and thin and crispy onion rings. They're also known for their custard (fancy Midwestern term for creamy ice-cream) and root-beer. And if you're saying, "Please - root beer is root beer", then you've clearly never had it at Culver's.

We have one about 2 miles from us and I only allow myself to eat there about 2 or 3 times a year.
2 reasons for this self-induced Culver's celibacy of sorts -
1) If I did not set limits I'd eat there once a week - easily.
2) If you read yesterday's post you know I hate to work out.  Culver's = a certain work out, unless I only eat it ocassionally.  Therefore, I do not associate Culver's with working out which means I do not associate Culver's with the devil which means I can eat there once every few months guilt and exercise free!!
Except for Tuesday when this photo was taken and then I came home and made all those Pretzel-Rolo bites.

4.  Over 100 happy followers! What what?? -
Oh, yeah. It's true.

Last week this little blog finally hit 100 GFC followers, and then just like that it was 109.

Now, I know a lot most of you reading this are bloggers and have like over 500 or 800 followers and even a few of you that hit 100 by the time your blog was still in the infancy stages, but to me this is craziness and a little bizarre.  I also know that on any given day only a handful of the 109 actually read these posts, but seeing that number grow has still been embarassingly exciting.

And I can almost assure you that this weekend will find me watching a few episodes of Homeland and toasting my 109 GFC followers (and those of you who follow via facebook or email) with an Appletini.  Too bad that the kids I ate all the Rolo bites.

Cheers to a great weekend, kids!!
